What are the types of cosmetic packaging materials?

1、PP、PE

It is an environmentally friendly material that can come into direct contact with cosmetics and food. It is the main material for packaging organic skincare products. The material is white and semi transparent. According to different molecular structures, three different degrees of hardness and softness can be achieved.

2、PET

PET material is relatively soft, with the Chinese name polyethylene terephthalate, which is the number one material in the international material label. Its main characteristics are high airtightness, good compressive strength, high water resistance, and transparent shape. Its transparency reaches up to 95%, higher than other commonly used plastic packaging containers, but it is not heat-resistant. PET is an environmentally friendly material that can come into direct contact with cosmetics and food. It is the main raw material for filling organic skincare products. Commonly used as packaging material for food, beverage, and cosmetic bottles. Due to its high airtightness and no air holes in the packaging container, it is commonly used as a packaging container for alcoholic beverages.

3、HDPE

The Chinese name is high-density polyethylene, also known as high-density PE, which is the second material on the international material identification number. Its main characteristic is good acid and alkali resistance, with better hardness, tensile strength, and creep performance than low-density polyethylene. The products processed with it are semi transparent and have poor heat resistance. When making packaging containers, there will be fine pores, which are commonly used for packaging pharmaceutical bottles, cosmetic bottle shells, and other plastic products.

4、LDPE

The Chinese name is low-density polyethylene, also known as low-density polyethylene. It is the fourth material on the international material identification number. Due to its low molecular density, it is softer than HDPE. The products processed with it are semi transparent, heat-resistant, and have fine pores. However, it has good acid and alkali resistance. Containers processed with this material are commonly used in chemical products such as facial cleansers, glue bottles, makeup bottles, and hoses.

5、PCTA

PCTA is a copolymer polyester plastic raw material. It has high transparency, excellent low-temperature toughness, high tear resistance, and good processing performance. It has excellent chemical resistance, can be electroplated, oil sprayed, and scratch resistant. Its density is 16% lower than that of PC, and its processing cost is 40% lower than that of PC. Good printing, coloring, and electroplating performance, with toughness three times higher than transparent ABS. Complies with European RoHS environmental directives and is suitable for cosmetic packaging.

6、PCTG

PCTG is a transparent plastic with glass like transparency and density close to glass, high gloss, chemical corrosion resistance, impact resistance, and easy processing. It can be injection molded, injection drawn blown, and extruded blown. It can also produce unique shapes, appearances, and special effects, such as bright colors, frosting, marble patterns, metals, etc. It can be used as a source of packaging materials for perfume bottle caps, cosmetics bottle caps, lipstick tubes, cosmetic boxes, etc.

7、AS

AS is not hard, brittle (there is a clear sound when knocking), transparent, and the background color is blue, which can directly contact with cosmetics and food. In ordinary lotion bottle vacuum bottles, it is generally used to make bottle body materials, and can also be used to make small capacity cream bottles.

8、ABS

ABS belongs to engineering glass and is not environmentally friendly. The color is light yellow or milky white, with high hardness. Do not come into direct contact with cosmetics and food. Generally used for making inner and shoulder covers in cosmetic packaging materials.

9. Acrylic

Also called PMMA or plexiglass, it has good transparency, chemical stability, weather resistance, easy dyeing, easy processing, beautiful appearance, and hard material. In order to maintain the transparent texture, it is often sprayed inside and outside the bottle, or colored during injection molding. It is often used for cosmetic bottle caps and bottle body packaging.
